Rationale
I wrote a protest letter about the victims of Bloody Sunday in Northern Ireland. It was written with an accusative_ tone and hopes to address the Prime Minister. In my letter, I tried to present my point of view with phrase like “they were just protesting and that is a civil right” and “the english must gave more help to the families of the people killed”. I tried as well to use a sophisticated level of vocabulary with words like civil rights and polotical action” finally I tried to use complex structures like one might see in a higher level publication such as The New York Times with sentences like “you treated them like dogs with aids and going against civil rights would be like a dicatatorship”. Using these elements I feel I reached my purpose set out in the task. This task addresses the topic “Taking a Stand” and specially addresses the topic of the abuse of power. I think a letter of protest helped me to best express what I learned from the topics we studied in this unit and how I feel about them

Dear Mr Cameron,
I am writing to protest against the event that accurred in 30 january 1972, THE BLOODY SUNDAY. That was a tragedy because 13 people wer killed. Because soldiers from british regiment opened fire on a civil rights march in Derty.
I am particulary concerned because you trated people like dogs with aids nd they were killed without reason.
They were just protesting nd that is a civil right. And the soldiers didnt have any right to kill people because of nothing.
In addition, that cirscuntance aso leaded years of violence in Northern Ireland maked a crowd and they burn the British Embassy.
Furthermore, that cirscuntance made that the young people regarded themselves as non_political and anarquist group the IRA. That ffects NOrthern Ireland and that could've be avoided by not killing does 13 people.
Besides, the soldiers started shoting because of nothing, and his orders was only to control the people in the protest not to kill them. They should not happened because the Englands soldiers dont have any right or order to killed the people that was protesting, and protest ia a civil right. And go against civil rights would be like a dictatorship.
Also, the political action was inssufficient because they just apologize or they support the ide of the protestants ´these men were cut down when they matched for justice in their own streets´ but they didnt really help the families in psicological or monetary problems.
It is for these reasons and more that I think the Bloody Sunday should´ve not happened, first because the soldiers should not shoot to the protestants, because they were in their rights. They were stripped of their rights. And also I think the English must gave more help to the families of the people killed.
I looked forward to your responde...
your sincerely

Summary Bloody Sunday-what happens?
What happens
About 10,000 people gather in Creggan area to protest. The Stormont government had banned such protests.
Army barricades block marchers from the centre. Two men are shot and wounded.
What happened next
The events of Bloody Sunday caused shock and revulsion across the world. In Dublin, a crowd of protesters burnt the British Embassy.
Some young people who had previously regarded themselves as non-political joined the IRA.
Two months after Bloody Sunday, the Stormont parliament which had ruled Northern Ireland since its creation in the 1920s was suspended and direct rule from London was imposed.
It also concluded the soldiers had been fired upon first and some of the victims had handled weapons, despite evidence from witnesses who said the victims were unarmed civilians.
The Catholic community rejected these findings
